Exposure to sunlight causes adverse effects on the performance of polyolefin products. UV radiation breaks down the chemical bonds in the polymer, called photo degradation. This will ultimately cause cracking, chalking, colour changes, and the loss of physical properties such as impact strength, tensile strength, elongation, etc, which can be prevented by UV stabilizers.
INTAVI masterbatches contain Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers (HALS) with high light stabilizing efficiency. Significant levels of stabilization can be achieved at relatively low concentrations due to HALS being partially regenerated (rather than consumed) during the stabilization process.
The addition rate of INTAVI varies according to the expected life span of the finished goods and the climate.
The climatic condition is measured by energy absorption that is expressed in kilo Langley (kLy). On average 140 kLy relates to one year of outdoor exposure in Florida.
